    More on Belmar Parade Day

As March Maddness fades and becomes a memory I'm starting to catch up on the backload of postings that need to be updated. The annual dvd comprised of photos that commemorate the day is available from John Sheridan & Jack McCarthy. While some of you may have seen the dvd at the club or dinner dance others may not so please enjoy the preview.

    2008 Support Our Troops Update

CarePackage.jpgWell, it's started. People have begun bringing in goods and depositing them in the lobby. We've seen everything from donations of toothbrushes and toothpaste to large boxes of soups. Don't be shy folks, every bit counts. I've updated both the list of items need and the downloadable version of the list with the goods received.

These are American sons and daughters, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers. These are our finest, put in harms way for us. Let's send them a small piece of America with a simple message attached... "We Care". Please remember them the next time you make a trip to the grocery store.

The Shillelagh Multiple Sclerosis Charity Bike Ride

    GetInvolved.jpg

The Friendly Sons has a proud tradition of supporting deserving causes and this is one more example of people acting rather than talking. According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, "Multiple sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another. Today, new treatments and advances in research are giving new hope to people affected by the disease."

You can help battle this debilitating disease by participating in this years Charity Bike Ride

The Great Easter Egg Hunt of 2008

Saturday morning, March 15 turned out to be a beautiful sunny morning much to the delight of the children that turned up to partake in the annual FSOS Easter Egg Hunt. Organized by Marty Cameron with a lot of help from Wives, Mothers and Daughters alike the event turned out to be a candy boon for the kids. Each hunt was set up by age group to insure that all participants got a bounty of candy filled eggs. If you were one of the children that found a real egg you got even more candy in the form of easter baskets filled with chocolate. Oh yes, it was just one big sugar rush.
